De’Von Achane Prop Bets
Here are Achane’s current prop bet lines at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 49.5 rushing yards, o/u 3.5 receptions and o/u 24.5 receiving yards. Achane is +130 to score a touchdown, +850 to score 2+ touchdowns and +650 to score the first touchdown of the game.
Achane has had an up-and-down season, just like the rest of the Dolphins. He has played much better in games where Tua Tagovailoa is the quarterback, but hasn’t produced as well without him. However, it will be Tyler Huntley at quarterback for the second-straight week. The Dolphins have a chance to make the postseason with a win over the Jets and a Broncos loss to the Chiefs. However, they will need to do their part with their backup quarterback. Huntley managed to get a win last week against the Browns but it was a really ugly game where Cleveland’s lack of offense was the real decider in the game.
The Jets are an interesting spot. Their season has been a total disaster but there is a possibility that this is Aaron Rodgers’ final NFL game. Despite the mess this season has been, Rodgers would love to end his NFL career with a good performance and a win. There is a chance that because of this the Jets put forward an inspired effort. These teams did go to overtime just a few weeks ago in Miami and that was with Tagovailoa at quarterback, so this should be a very competitive game as well. The last time these teams faced, Achane couldn’t get anything going on the ground. He had 14 carries for just 24 yards — his second-lowest yards per carry of the season. Achane did have a decent receiving day, however, with six catches for 45 yards.
Achane was a real receiving threat out of the backfield for a long stretch in the middle of the season. From the time Tagovailoa returned from his head injury through last week, Achane had been one of the Dolphins’ top receivers. However, with Huntley back at quarterback last week, Achane regressed to where his receiving numbers were at the beginning of the season. He had just two catches for 13 yards against Cleveland. In Huntley’s three starts earlier this season, Achane combined for just 21 receiving yards across all three of those games. That is why I am backing Achane to go under his receiving prop of 24.5 yards. Huntley can’t push the ball down the field, which takes away the deep ball threat to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. Therefore, safeties and linebackers can all push up and that greatly restricts Achane’s ability to be a receiver.
