The Chris Olave experience in fantasy football has been a roller coaster ride. The highs are highs, the lows are low, and the young star unfortunately tends to get knocked out of games with injuries.
However, following an extended absence due to a concussion suffered in Week 9, Olave is listed questionable to play in Week 18. If he takes the field on Sunday, is the wideout a viable option for DraftKings DFS lineups?

Season in review
The Saints’ top wide receiver appeared in eight games this season, garnering 44 targets. With that workload, he caught 32 passes for 400 yards and just one touchdown. The stats certainly aren’t eye-popping, but it’s worth mentioning that Olave exited multiple contests early due to injury, which lessened his opportunities to produce.
After Olave went down with the concussion in Week 9, he was placed on injured reserve and reportedly visited a specialist regarding his history of football-related head injuries. He hasn’t played since, but has logged three full practices in the lead-up to Week 18’s regular season finale. With a questionable tag, it’s uncertain he’ll even play this week, but with the Saints eliminated from postseason contention, it doesn’t make the most sense for him to return for a relatively meaningless game.
Should he be in lineups?
Selecting Olave for DFS contests will be a very risky move, even at a price point of $5,200. On one hand, the young wideout has a solid ceiling and is capable of posting a 20-plus point outing. Plus, he’d be the best receiving target on the field by far for New Orleans, so plenty of targets could go his way.
On the other hand, his questionable designation means the Saints may not even pencil him into the lineup this week given the low-stakes matchup. It’s possible he doesn’t play in order to avoid serious injury, but even if he takes the field, his upside is likely capped with Spencer Rattler ($4,800) at quarterback.
Even with that said, though, he could provide solid value at a relatively cheap cost if he does suit up. The best course of action is likely to wait until his status is more certain before locking in a lineup, in which case he could serve as a good FLEX option with WR2 upside. There are certainly worse options out there.
