Jayden Daniels has had a truly special season in Washington. Daniels is an overwhelming -20000 favorite to win NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbook. Not only has Daniels had a great year statistically, but he is also leading the Commanders to the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Daniels is top 15 in passing yards, top ten in passing touchdowns and leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards this season. Advanced metrics look even kinder upon Daniels’ season. He ranks fifth among qualified quarterbacks in EPA+CPOE composite, behind only Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Jared Goff.
Despite already clinching a wildcard spot, the Commanders do have motivation to win this regular-season finale against Dallas. They currently sit in the six-seed in the NFC, meaning they would face the Rams as things currently sit. With a loss, they could drop behind the Packers to the seven-seed. That would mean having to travel to Philadelphia. That is a massive difference in the quality of their opponent so the Commanders will want to win this game.
Daniels dealt with a rib injury in the middle of the season and had a major dip in his rushing figures during that stretch. He had double-digit carries in four of his first five games of the season, but then went eight straight games with single-digit carries after that. Since the Commanders’ late bye week, Jayden Daniels is averaging 12 carries per game. He is averaging 91.3 rushing yards over that three-game stretch. It should be another big rushing game for Daniels against a Dallas defense that ranks 31st in defensive EPA/rush this season. Daniels should go over 47.5 rushing yards for the fourth straight game.
