Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

Following an exciting night of nine NBA games on Saturday, just six will tip off throughout Sunday.

The Orlando Magic will host the Brooklyn Nets starting at 3:30 p.m. ET. At 6:00 p.m. ET, the Boston Celtics will host the Indiana Pacers, while the Toronto Raptors will face the Atlanta Hawks. At 7:00 p.m. ET, the Memphis Grizzlies will travel to Oklahoma City Thunder while the Miami Heat take on the Houston Rockets. The final matchup will be tipping off at 8:00 p.m. ET when the San Antonio Spurs face the Minnesota Timberwolves.

You can check out each matchup and all prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook. Here are my favorite prop bets on the Sunday slate.

Jalen Johnson Over 36.5 Points, Rebounds, & Assists (-120)

Don’t look now but the Atlanta Hawks are quietly shifting into Jalen Johnson’s team. Sure Trae Young will continue playing his ball-dominant style of basketball and put up some impressive box scores. But Johnson has established himself as a tone-setter this season and continues to see his role expand. Through his opening 30 games, Johnson is averaging 20.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.5 assists per game.

This will be the second night of a back-to-back for the Atlanta Hawks. They defeated the Miami Heat last night as Johnson finished with 28 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists. The game before he finished with 30 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists in a victory over the Bulls. Overall, Johnson has recorded over 36.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists in 13 games this season including the past two games.

The Hawks will prepare to face off with the Toronto Raptors tonight who enter with a 7-24 record, rank 26th in points allowed, and are 23rd in opponent rebounds per game. Johnson is playing at an extremely high level of late and will continue to see his role in the Atlanta offense expand if he continues to prove he is worthy. Expect this process to continue today and for Johnson to record over 36.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists for the third consecutive game.

Zach Edey Over 8.5 Rebounds (-140)

After a strong start to his rookie season, Zach Edey found himself on the injury report and missed 12 games due to an ankle injury. The Purdue product has made his return to the field for the past six games and is beginning to settle back into the role he had initially carved out for himself. Across the 20 games he has been active, Edey is averaging 11.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. He has recorded over 8.5 rebounds in eight of the 20 games this season including four of the six games since he returned from injury.

Memphis is traveling to Oklahoma City tonight to face the Thunder. While the Western Conference favorites have made a strong case for why they should be considered legitimate title threats, rebounding has been an area of concern. Looking at the season-long sample size, Oklahoma City ranks 21st in rebounding and 29th in opponents’ rebounds per game. In fairness, their outlook has greatly changed since Isaiah Hartenstein returned to the floor and we have yet to see the prized free agent play alongside Chet Holmgren. Hartenstein is averaging 12.8 rebounds per game which is the third-best rate in the NBA.

While Hartenstein will still make his impact felt, 8.5 is too low of a rebounding total for Zach Edey in this matchup. He has proven to be a more significant part of this Grizzlies team than many expected and is settling back in following the multi-week absence. Expect Edey to impose himself with his 7-foot-4 frame and for his strength to be a factor. Edey is a high-level competitor and this will be put on display in this Western Conference matchup tonight.

Victor Wembanyama Over 3.5 Made Three-Pointers (+120)

Victor Wembanayama’s full superstar breakout is underway in his second season. In his second season, the number one overall pick is averaging 25.2 points, 10.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and a league-best 4.0 blocks per game. He also has seen a significant increase in his three-point production and has connected on 36.1% of his three-point attempts while shooting 9.4 perimeter shots per game. Wembanyama ranks eighth in the league in three-point attempts.

The Spurs will prepare to face the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight. This will lead to the matchup with Rudy Gobert. As the two Frenchman face-off, expect Wembanyama to lean on his perimeter attack often in this game. Gobert has four Defensive Player of the Year awards on his resume but struggles when he is forced out on the perimeter. This combination of size and skill set is what makes Wembanyama so special and will force Gobert into a tough spot today.

Overall Wembanyama has made over 3.5 three-pointers in 12 of the 26 games he has played. This includes four of his past five games with Wembanyama still making three perimeter shots in the game that he failed to reach it. Expect Wembanyama to continue playing with increased offensive aggression and knock down four or more three-pointers against the Timberwolves tonight.
