The 7-22 Charlotte Hornets will play the 4-23 Washington Wizards tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the nation’s capital. These two teams faced each other last Thursday, with the Wizards winning 123-114.
Although the Hornets have lost 13 of their previous 14 games, their best player, LaMelo Ball, has taken his scoring to a different level this season. He averages 30 points, 7.5 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game. He is fourth in the NBA in scoring behind Giannis Antetokounmpo (32.7), Nikola Jokic (30.7) and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (30.6).

Ball has scored over 30.5 points in 13 of the 21 games he has played this season. He has also hit that mark in five of his last seven contests. Ball succeeded against the Wizards last week, scoring 34 points with 13 assists.
He has increased his scoring average by 6.1 points per game this season. A big part of that jump in scoring has been Ball attempting 5.3 more field goals per night. He has one of the highest scoring totals of Thursday’s slate, but it is well deserved. Even though Ball’s personal growth hasn’t translated yet to team success, he is as consistent as any scorer in the NBA this season.
