Luka Doncic injury update

Luka Doncic injury update

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

UPDATE – The Mavericks are expecting to miss Luka Doncic for an extended period of time, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

UPDATE – Luka Doncic has now been ruled out for the remainder of the Mavericks vs. Timberwolves matchup due to a left calf strain. Doncic has battled issues with this same calf already this season. More information regarding the concern level and severity of the injury will be made available soon.

Christmas is not a day off for the injury bug. Luka Doncic seemingly suffered a knee injury just before halftime of the Dallas Mavericks matchup with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

As the superstar attempted to make a step-back move before rising for a jump shot, he pulled up awkwardly and immediately called for a sub. Doncic was unable to walk back to the backcourt as the Timberwolves attacked down the other end and went directly to the locker room once there was a stoppage.

Before picking up the injury, Doncic had tallied 14 points, five rebounds and two assists across his 16 minutes of play. The injury looked to be non-contact and more information should be known shortly.

While the Dallas Mavericks are 6-2 on the season without their star, there is no doubt that they cannot reach their peak without Doncic on the floor. It will be interesting to see if Doncic can return for the second half, but there is a notable hole to dig out of as the Timberwolves have leaped out to a 57-40 lead.

More information will be added to this article as it becomes available.
