Allen is the MVP favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook with odds of -400 heading into Week 15. He is having an incredible season, and the Bills still have a chance to catch the Chiefs to steal the first-round bye in the AFC since they have the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Rams dominated the Bills defense last week, but the Bills should bounce back even against a tough Lions team.
The Bills’ offense is now the best in the league by EPA/play. They rank first in EPA/dropback and third in EPA/rush. Allen has a lot of weapons to work with and he can throw to any of them, hand it to James Cook or take off and use his legs. Last week against the Rams, Allen had a season-high 82 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. That makes it four straight games with at least one rushing touchdown for Allen.
The Lions are allowing more yards per carry to opposing quarterbacks than any other team in the league. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging 6.6 yards per carry against Detroit this season which is good news for Allen. He should be able to pick up solid chunks on the ground to stay ahead of the sticks in this game. Once in the red zone, the Lions’ defense is one of the best in the league. They will make it really hard for the Bills to run it up the middle or complete a pass into the end zone. That is when Allen does what he does best, improvising with his legs and making magic happen. Allen should be able to find some space in the red zone and run for a touchdown for the fifth straight game.
