Best Ladd McConkey prop bets for Chargers at Chiefs on Sunday Night Football

The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Chargers as the Week 14 Sunday Night matchup. Ladd McCokey and company have won five of their past six games and will be looking to carry this momentum into this AFC West rivalry.

Kansas City enters with an 11-1 and is one of three teams to have clinched their playoff opportunity entering the day. They are tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the second-best odds of winning the Super Bowl.

Los Angeles has emerged as a darkhorse threat in the AFC and this will be a measuring stick matchup between the two opponents. This is the second time they have faced off this season with the Chiefs producing a a 17-10 victory back in Week 4. However, the Chargers have played much better football since this point and will be looking for a better result against the defending champions.

The Chiefs enter this game as 4-point favorites and -218 on the moneyline. The Chargers are considered +180 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook, with the game total set at 42.5 points.

Ladd McConkey Prop Bets

DraftKings Sportsbook has Ladd McConkey’s props set at o/u 4.5 receptions, 60.5 receiving yards, 22.5 yards for his longest catch, and holds +195 odds of an anytime touchdown.

Ladd McConkey has been one of the bigger breakout stories across the NFL late in the season. The Georgia product has logged 58 receptions this year which he has turned to 815 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He is coming off his best game of the season after recording nine catches for 117 yards last week against the Falcons.

The Chargers will face a tough Kansas City defense, but one that has not been as strong in recent weeks. Looking at the full-season sample size, the Chiefs rank eighth in points and yards allowed. However, they have struggled against the pass ranking 23rd in passing yards allowed, 16th in passing touchdown conceded, and 19th in net yards per pass attempt.

It should be noted that McConkey is fighting through some injury issues. Officially he is listed as questionable with both knee and shoulder ailments. While the expectation seems to be that McConkey will play, he will be a game-time decision.

McConkey has not been held back by his injuries to this point and has only seen his role within the offense grow in recent weeks. He is averaging 67.9 receiving yards per game on the season but also has recorded 83 or more receiving yards in each of the past three weeks. The 23-year-old has recorded over 60.5 receiving yards six times with each occurring across the past nine games.

The Chargers’ growth in willingness to pass the ball has benefitted McConkey more than anyone and look for him to continue building off this. He is coming off a season-high 12 targets last week and Kansas City is not dynamic enough of a defense to fully stop him. Expect McConkey to be targeted heavily and break free for a few big plays against the Chargers’ divisional opponent as he eclipses 60.5 receiving yards in the process. This number is too low based on his string of recent success and expect his level of production to continue in primetime.

The Pick: Over 60.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
