NFL Week 14 Start or Sit: Jake Ferguson

NFL Week 14 Start or Sit: Jake Ferguson

Updated:

By: Alex Hunter

Jake Ferguson ($3,900) has missed two straight games with a concussion, but the tight end has cleared concussion protocol and is expected to play Monday vs. the Bengals. Luke Schoonmaker ($3,600) has been solid as Ferguson’s replacement as the Cowboy’s top tight end, but the 26-year-old should revert back to playing a small role with Ferguson returning.

When excluding Week 11, when Ferguson suffered his concussion and only logged seven snaps, he has played eight full games this season and in those contests, Ferguson has seen a target on 22% of his routes and he has run a route on 77% of his team’s drop backs. Most of this data comes with Dak Prescott at quarterback, but in the one full game Ferugson has played with Cooper Rush under center this season, Ferguson continued to see strong usage, with a target on 20% of his routes.

While Rush is a downgrade from Prescott, Rush has been a competent passer, with at least 247 passing yards in two of his four starts this season. Rush should look Ferguson’s way often this Monday in a possible shootout with the Bengals — this game is tied for the second-highest total of Week 14 on the DraftKings Sportsbook at 49.5 points — and this matchup is excellent, with Cincinnati giving up the second-most yards per pass in the NFL over their last three games (9.2).

The Bengals have allowed a tight end to score a touchdown in four consecutive games and, on top of Ferguson being a strong start for both season-long and DFS formats this week, the veteran is an intriguing bet for a touchdown in this contest at a favorable price of +265 on the DraftKings Sportsbook.

Start or Sit Jake Ferguson: Start.
