Sunday’s win vs. the Bengals was a statement win for the Steelers. We’re talking about a team that beat the Ravens six field goals in Week 11.
It’s a three-team race in the AFC between Kansas City, Buffalo and Pittsburgh. The Steelers still have a really tough schedule ahead, so they have some things they will have to get over, but this was a really important win.
This win showed that the Steelers don’t need to solely rely on their defense. When they need to, Russell Wilson and company can dial up some points.
Eagles playing best football in NFC
Lamar Jackson’s record vs. NFC teams was 23-3 going into Week 13, which is just a fancy way of saying, “If you don’t see this guy a lot, he’s difficult to prepare for.”
That Philadelphia defense absolutely shut down the Ravens in the second half. They gave Baltimore nothing. That speaks volumes about where Philadelphia is as a team. We’ve seen some perplexing losses from the Ravens, but this was a completely dominant win for the Eagles.
They’re playing better now than Detroit is. You can’t win the Super Bowl in December, but if you look at the way the Eagles are playing right now, they are playing a more consistent brand of football than the Lions.
NFC West is totally up for grabs
We won’t know anything about the NFC West until the final game of the regular season. And I can promise you that whatever game it is that will determine the NFC West will be the game that’s flexed into the last Sunday night game of the year.
But Seattle does deserve a lot of praise.
The Seahawks were 4-5, Geno Smith had a couple of head-scratching games and they were an afterthought.. Then lo and behold, out of nowhere, they come together and put up three consecutive wins — some in dramatic fashion.
I know Week 13 was against the Jets and New York has had all kinds of issues, but the Seahawks were down 14-0, then 21-7. They were down 14 points twice on the road against an East Coast team. It’s really difficult for West Coast teams to have an early start on Sunday. On top of all that, it was the first time Aaron Rodgers ever lost a game in which he’s had a 14-point lead in his career.
