Joe Mixon is having a great season with the Texans, but their offense has been struggling over the past several weeks. Mixon had a massive game two weeks ago against Dallas but in the other two games in the past three weeks, he has had 22 rushing yards and 46 rushing yards. The Houston offense has really struggled in those games but one thing that has changed is Mixon has thrived in the passing game. He has 111 receiving yards over the past three weeks and has been a good outlet for C.J. Stroud.
The Jaguars have the worst pass defense in the NFL. They rank 32nd in defensive EPA/dropback and 32nd in defensive dropback success rate. They have not been great stopping the run either, ranking 19th in defensive EPA/rush. This could be a good chance for the Houston offense and Mixon to get back on track against a defense that has had major issues getting stops all season. The Jaguars have also allowed the third-most receiving yards per game to opposing running backs at 48.8 yards per game.
That is why my favorite prop bet for this game is Joe Mixon o19.5 receiving yards. Mixon has eclipsed this number in three straight games, despite struggling on the ground. Against a defense that has struggled so much against the pass, particularly against running backs, Mixon should be able to pick up big chunks through the screen game and on short routes over the middle. Overall, Mixon has cleared this number in six out of nine games this season and he should do it again against Jacksonville.
