Here are Justin Jefferson’s current prop bet odds at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 5.5 receptions and o/u 83.5 receiving yards. Jefferson is +115 to score a touchdown, +800 to score 2+ touchdowns and +600 to score the first touchdown of the game.
There is something off with the Vikings offense the past three weeks and it starts with the relationship between Justin Jefferson and Sam Darnold. Over that three-game stretch, Jefferson is averaging just 4.3 receptions for 52 yards and no touchdowns. The Vikings are scoring just 21 points a game over that stretch. Until the Vikings prove that they can generate the explosive offense that they had earlier this season, it’s hard to trust them or Jefferson to have a big game. Jefferson is 2nd in the league in receiving yards still which is incredible since he’s “struggling” at the moment but he is now 11th in the league in receptions which is evidence that Sam Darnold is starting to look to other targets more often.
The Cardinals have been a very competitive team this season. They rank 21st in defensive EPA/dropback but they have done a good job of eliminating opposing WR1s. Only Brandon Aiyuk went up against the Cardinals as a WR1 and had more than 80 receiving yards. The only other player to eclipse that mark against Arizona this season was Olamide Zaccheus, who is far from a WR1. However, Tyreek Hill, DJ Moore, Davante Adams, DK Metcalf, Terry McLaurin and more were all held under 80 receiving yards by Arizona. Jonathan Gannon is a great defensive coach and has employed the strategy of “make someone else beat us” which has been pretty effective all season.
For this game, I am betting on Jefferson to go under 83.5 receiving yards. Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson are starting to take a lot of targets away from Justin Jefferson and his production is dwindling. He has failed to clear this number in three straight games and has only eclipsed it in five out of 11 games this season. Against a defense that will emphasize taking away the superstar, it almost plays into the hands of Sam Darnold who has been targeting other guys anyways. Jefferson should stay under this number against the Cardinals.
