Captain’s Picks
Josh Allen ($16,500 CP): Feet of snow. Wind. Josh Allen was built for this. The weather will suppress Allen’s stats but that’s across the board. All players suffer but who succeeds? Who suffers less? The answer is Allen. His air game may be inefficient in the environment but that’s the ground game’s gain. Imagine this — Josh Allen could likely be the leading rusher in a game with CMC. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady has turned Allen loose and opened up the playbook for their Super Bowl run. Allen and the Bills are going to break slates in December.
UTIL Plays
Christian McCaffrey ($10,600): Let the contortion begin. How do CMC and Allen fit in the same lineup? The Sunday Night Football game could be played under feet of falling snow. The game will be grounded. The forecast calls for heavy flurries, many rushes and short passes. That’s a CMC game. Brock Purdy is back but OT Trent Williams is still out. That’s not ideal but ideal doesn’t exist this late in the season. It’s football — everyone is banged up, whether they’re on the injury report or not. McCaffrey hasn’t smashed a slate this season but it’s a matter of time based on his volume.
James Cook ($9,600): Selecting CMC isn’t much different than clicking Cook. The environment is the same. Cook could actually be better. CMC is the better back but Cook has the better supporting attack. Brock Purdy could struggle in the snow and saddle CMC. The Bills are more likely to move the ball and score. Cook has better touchdown chances and TDs decide NFL DFS Showdown Slates on DraftKings.
Bills DST ($5,000): The weather always brings out DFS DST talk. This can be exaggerated but not this time. There could be thunder snow in Buffalo. That sounds serious. Picks, sacks and sloppy scoops for scores are snow game standbys. The Bills have a rested top-10 defense that ranks inside the top five in forcing turnovers. Buffalo has five picks in the last two games and at least one in six of the last seven. Its biggest weakness is on the ground and it has allowed some massive rushing games to stars. That is off-putting for Bills fans but it’s great in DFS for CMC-Bills D stacks.
Fades
Deebo Samuel ($9,000): Insert receiver name here. Any wide receiver can be comfortably faded on the Week 13 NFL SNF DFS Showdown Slate on DraftKings. Snow and wind will do that. Any receiver can break a big play but volume and the usual consistency are not expected. With that being the case, the receiver with the highest salary becomes the most obvious fade. Salary needs to be allocated to Josh Allen and the two ground games. This is not an indictment of Deebo Samuel. It’s just the weather.
THE OUTCOME
Winter isn’t coming. It’s here. Mark Twain said, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Sunday night is going to be a tad bit colder for the 49ers. The 49ers are pros and they can play through everything, but can they win under any condition? The Bills in a blizzard is always the pick.
