NFL Week 13 Start or Sit: Christian Watson

After erupting for 150 yards vs. the Bears in Week 11 (22 FPTS), Christian Watson ($4,900) didn’t catch any of his three targets this past Sunday vs. the 49ers. In this 28-point win over San Francisco, Watson’s usage wasn’t overly encouraging, with him seeing a 13.6% target share and a 69% route rate.

For the season, Watson is handling a modest 12.5% target share, which ranks fifth for the Packers and is a notable drop from his 17.6% target share from last season. Watson is leading Green Bay with 13 targets over 20 yards in his 10 games, but he has only hauled in four of these long targets.

Fantasy wise, Watson is only scoring 7.3 FPTS per game and 0.20 FPTS per snap this season, and he has scored less than 10 FPTS in seven of his 10 games, including three performances without a single catch.

As you can see, Watson has been extremely unreliable and expecting him to perform well vs. the Dolphins on Thanksgiving is unreasonable. This season, Miami is giving up the fifth-fewest yards per pass (6.1) and the third-fewest receiving yards to wide receivers (1,370).

Unless very desperate, Watson isn’t worth starting in your season long leagues this week, and while his low-expected ownership and cheap price tag for DFS feels appealing, avoiding Watson for that format is also the right move.
