Jared Goff is having a great season, leading the highest-scoring offense in the league. Goff currently has the fourth-best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to win the NFL MVP. Goff has not thrown an interception in seven of his past eight games, although the one game he did was the bizarre five-interception performance against the Texans. He is currently eighth in the league in passing yards, fifth in passing touchdowns and first in EPA+CPOE composite.
The Lions’ offense is second in the league in EPA/dropback and first in dropback success rate. They have been an impossible matchup for almost every opposing defense this season, scoring 24 points or more in eight straight games. While the Bears have a solid defense, they have been declining in production in recent weeks. In Weeks 1-6, they were elite, ranking second in the NFL in EPA/dropback. However, in Weeks 7-12, they rank 24th in EPA/dropback. They have faced some tough offenses such as the Commanders, Vikings and Packers over that stretch, but the Lions are a tougher matchup than all of those teams.
Goff should have a big day against the Bears. The Lions are on fire while the Bears are trending in the wrong direction. The Detroit crowd should also be wild on Thanksgiving for a tradition that is so important to the franchise. My favorite bet for this game is for Jared Goff to have over 244.5 passing yards. Sam Darnold, Jayden Daniels and Jordan Love all comfortably cleared this number in recent weeks against the Bears. Goff has also cleared this number in each of the past two weeks and in over half of his games this season. Goff threw for 332 yards against Green Bay on Thanksgiving last year and should be poised for another big performance in this game.
