NBA Cup play rages on this week, with several marquee matchups for hoops fans to dig into before Thanksgiving. The five-game slate includes a showdown between the surging Bucks and their old foe, the Miami Heat, followed up by a clash between the Lakers and Suns. With so many big names taking the floor, finding a value play on tonight’s board is easier said than done.

Kevin Durant over 2.5 assists (-120)
One of the greatest players in NBA history makes their return tonight, as Kevin Durant is set to play in his first game since November 8th. The former MVP got off to a blistering start before suffering a calf injury, putting up 27.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists through nine games. KD’s departure has coincided with the team’s decline, as the Suns went 1-6 without the veteran in the lineup following an 8-1 start.
In the past, Durant has dominated in this spot, averaging 29.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in seven games against the Lakers as a member of the Suns. Tonight’s assist total might appear risky, as KD will likely be on a minutes restriction. However, it’s also very likely that he can dish out three assists even in limited action. This is not a player you want to bet against at such a reasonable number.
John Collins under 18.5 points (-110)
The Jazz finally got an impressive win over the weekend, dominating the visiting Knicks on Saturday by a score of 121-106. Key to the victory was John Collins, who tallied a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double. The former Hawks forward has been terrific lately, accumulating 17.0 points and 10.2 rebounds over his last five games.
However, tonight’s game isn’t ideal for any frontcourt player. Shot-blocking monster Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs have held opponents to just 44.4 points in the paint, sixth-lowest in the NBA. In Collins’ last ten outings vs. San Antonio, he’s failed to go over 18 points nine times. It’s never fun to bet against a player on a hot streak, but all good things must come to an end.
Austin Reaves over 2.5 three-pointers made (-110)
The 10-6 Lakers have been carried by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but fans shouldn’t overlook some of the supporting cast. That includes Austin Reaves, who’s established himself as one of the game’s most consistent role players. The fourth-year guard has produced 17.3 points, 3.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists in sixteen games this year.
In a matchup featuring some of the NBA’s biggest stars, there should be plenty of good looks for AR15. Over their last three games, the Suns are giving up 15.7 three-pointers, second-most in basketball. Reaves has nailed three or more deep balls in seven of his last ten outings. A shooter in rhythm facing a vulnerable defense? These are the kind of bets we just can’t ignore.
