DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward, and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.
For Mondayโs Starting 5 slate, there are five games.
No teams are playing the second leg of a back-to-back. CHI, HOU, LAL, MIA, MIN, PHO, SA, UTA and WAS play on Wednesday.
As for injuries, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Terry Rozier and Keldon Johnson are probable. Jordan Poole, Jalen Green, Mike Conley, Joe Ingles and Taurean Prince are questionable. Lonzo Ball is doubtful. Jordan Clarkson, Kyle Filipowski and Cody Williams are out. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, there are three games within 3 points: MIA -2 over MIL, SAS -2.5 over UTA and PHO -3 over LAL. The largest spread is CHI -4 over WAS. There are two games with a total of at least 230: CHI/WAS (241.5) and LAL/PHO (232.5). Log into DK Sportsbook for the updates.

Point Guard
When he’s on the court, Josh Giddey is a per-minute contributor, averaging a respectable 1.12 FPTS per minute. The issue recently is that he hasn’t been closing due to his defense. I don’t think much defense is going to be played in this one, as the Bulls and Wizards are 28th and 30th in defensive efficiency. In addition, Chicago is second in pace while Washington is 10th, so it should be an up-and-down affair with plenty of possessions to rack up fantasy goodies. Giddey has four games over 40 FPTS this season.
Shooting Guard
This position is tough because I don’t like the matchup that Anthony Edwards has against the Houston Rockets, as they play excellent defense. That said, he garners such a high usage rate and will likely score in the 40 FPT-range that I still think he puts up the most raw points at the position.
Small Forward
Jimmy Butler is such a fascinating figure. He has the game to dominate on a nightly basis yet he plays within the system most nights. Currently, he’s in alpha form, putting up over 50 FPTS in each of the last two games. I think that continues against the Bucks.
Power Forward
Giannis Antetokounmpo has the highest potential ceiling at the position. He’s gone for over 60 FPTS in four of the last six games with a high of 97.5 FPTS. Crazy. This play correlates to the above Butler one because if Giannis puts up points, then it’s likely that Butler reciprocates.
Center
It took some time for Victor Wembanyama to calibrate to the new season, but he’s here now. And it’s wonderful. Over the last five games, Wembanyama has put up over 55 FPTS in all, with two over 70. He’s attempted over 20 shots in each of the last four games, but the craziest stat is that he’s blocked at least two shots in every game but one. He has a seven-block game and a nine-block game.
