The Steelers are taking on the Browns in a division rivalry game on Thursday Night Football. Here are some Nick Chubb prop bets to consider at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Nick Chubb Prop Bets
Here are Nick Chubb’s current prop bet odds at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 3.5 receiving yards and o/u 52.5 rushing yards. Chubb is +145 to score a touchdown, +950 to score 2+ touchdowns and +550 to score the first touchdown of the game.
This will be Nick Chubb’s fifth game back. Last season, Chubb suffered that terrible knee injury that not only took him out for the rest of the 2023 season but for the start of the 2024 season. Chubb did an incredible job of bouncing back and getting on the field, especially for a team with so many struggles like the Browns. That being said, Chubb has struggled to get back to his old heights over the past few weeks with a single-game high of 52 rushing yards this season.
Chubb in no way deserves all of the blame for this, as the Browns have dealt with offensive line injuries, two different sub-par quarterbacks and a defense that is nowhere near as dominant as the past several years. That has resulted in a lot of obvious passing situations for the Browns and a smaller role for Chubb. He is averaging just 13 carries per game and Jerome Ford is still getting a decent amount of touches, especially in the passing game.
On third downs and in obvious passing situations, Ford is often on the field rather than Chubb. Last week Ford had four catches for 29 yards. Conversely, Nick Chubb has a total of two catches for six yards in four games since his return. Part of the lack of production there is Chubb not having the same quickness as before, part of it is those snaps going to Jerome Ford, but the main issue is that Jameis Winston hates checkdowns. Deshaun Watson was comfortable dumping the ball off to Jerome Ford and grabbing a few yards. However, Jameis Winston pushes the ball down the field for better or for worse.
Among 40 qualified quarterbacks, Watson ranks 30th in air yards per pass while Winston ranks second. Winston is averaging nearly 10 air yards per pass, meaning he is almost never throwing a check down at the line of scrimmage or even two or three yards downfield. That is why my favorite prop bet for Nick Chubb is u3.5 receiving yards. Chubb has one catch for -4 yards in his past three games and there is no indication that he is going to get more looks in the receiving game anytime soon.
Pick: Nick Chubb u3.5 Receiving Yards (-115)
