NFL Week 11 Start or Sit: Diontae Johnson

NFL Week 11 Start or Sit: Diontae Johnson

Diontae Johnson’s career as a Raven is off to a tough start. After being traded from the Panthers, Johnson played his first game in the purple and black in Week 10. He failed to make an impact though, catching one of his two targets for six yards. Johnson was barely involved in the game to the point where there are no available pictures of him in a Ravens uniform to use for this article.

In Week 11, Baltimore will face the Steelers in Pittsburgh. As an ex-Steeler, Johnson could be in line for a bounce-back game against his old team, but it’s hard to tell how involved he will be. Steelers coach Mike Tomline may have lit a fire under Johnson, saying “They’ve got more significant pieces with larger roles that occupy my attention” when asked about how Pittsburgh will defend Jonhson.

Despite the poking of the bear from Tomlin, I would recommend sitting Diontae in Week 11 until we start to see a larger role from him in this offense. He had 351 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his seven games with Carolina before the trade, so there is no doubt that Johnson is capable of producing fantasy points, but in his already proven offense, it’s tough to see where he fits in right now. Sit Johnson until he can prove that he’s worth starting.
