We’re back with more lists; in NBA week four we’re witnessing a historic 11-0 start to the season by the Cleveland Cavaliers and a first-seed Golden State team. Are we in 2016?
We’re shooting the Three Lists of Threes today for your weekly dose of fantasy tips: Buy-lows, sell-highs, and streams.
Here are some sell-highs we can consider.
Sell ’em
Norman Powell, SG, Los Angeles Clippers
I know, I know, I know. You probably got Norman Powell for pennies at the very end of your draft, he’s rank 21, and it might look sustainable. It probably, possibly, maybe is. But you know what? You can still trade him for a proven top-40 talent. Powell is shooting 51.5% FG and a red-hot 49.4% from beyond the arc. He’s pilfering 1.1 steals per game and also soaking up an unbelievable 26.9% usage rate. He’s putting up 66.8% TS, which would be a career-high and also currently higher than Steph Curry’s career TS% of 62.6%. Powell will cool off a little bit, but if you wanted to just ride it out, I wouldn’t blame you, either.
Gradey Dick, SG, Toronto Raptors
Dick’s situation is a bit more optimistic than Powell’s. He’s 21 and is entering his second NBA season. He’s exploding in a big way, putting up 19 PPG on 46% FG and 22.6% usage rate. If I had Dick, I’m getting out here while I still can. He cooled off considerably once Immanuel Quickley returned, and once this Raptors roster is at full strength, Dick won’t have enough opportunity to replicate the six-game stretch in which he had 22 points or more in five of them.
Similar to Powell, it’s tough to part with a late draft pick you feel like you smashed. But we have to be realistic about our expectations; Dick simply won’t get enough run in the long term, but we can capitalize on his value now.
Dyson Daniels, PG/SG, Atlanta Hawks
Daniels has emerged as a waiver-wire gem, sitting at rank 49 in 9-cat leagues while averaging a mind-boggling, league-leading, unreasonable 3.3 SPG. These steals are tremendous and enough to carry a team to victory in this category each week. In fact, it’s his steals and 0.8 BPG that’s buoying his entire value right now. Daniels’ steals are real; he’s leading the league in deflections, uses his length to disrupt passing lanes, and is sharp at wrapping around defenders and poking balls loose.
I’d find someone who really needs these steals and see if I can nab a top-50 player in return. I have no doubts about Daniels’ pathway to minutes on this team. He’s a perfect complementary piece to Trae Young and is a big part of the Hawks’ league-average defense.
