Is Brian Thomas Jr. still a must-start in Week 10 if Trevor Lawrence sits?

Trevor Lawrence ($5,400) is dealing with a shoulder injury and is unlikely to play this Sunday vs. the Vikings, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. With Lawrence likely out, Mac Jones ($4,400) is the next man and the ex-Patriot should start at quarterback, which would be an obvious downgrade for the Jaguars’ offense.

In his 11 starts with the Patriots last season, Jones only averaged 6.1 yards per attempt. He threw for 10 touchdowns and 12 picks. The quarterback threw for less than 200 yards in three of his final four starts of the season. Additionally, this isn’t an easy matchup for Jones, with Minnesota giving up the 10th-fewest yards per pass this season (6.3).

With Jones under center, it’s difficult to have high hopes for Brian Thomas Jr. ($6,600), even with Christian Kirk (collarbone) out. With the wideout missing his first game of the season last week, Thomas Jr. was expected to take on an expanded role and he disappointed vs. the Eagles, only catching two of his four targets for 22 yards (6.2 FPTS). Thomas Jr. is dealing with a chest injury that almost landed him on IR and after his weak outing last week, one certainly could presume he is not fully healthy.

All things considered, Thomas Jr. is not a must-start if you own him this week and he is a risky GPP target at best for DFS.
