Does Mike Williams have any fantasy value after his trade to the Steelers?

Jets WR Mike Williams has been traded to the Steelers in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round pick. The receiver has had a quiet season in New York, with only 12 catches for 166 yards and no touchdowns in nine games, resulting in a modest 3.2 FPTS per game. That being said, Williams hasn’t really had a chance to produce, with him only seeing a target on 9% of his routes with the Jets. Williams operated as the third or fourth receiving option for most of his time in New York, but in Pittsburgh, he has a chance to be the No.2 receiver for this offense that lacks receiving threats after George Pickens. Plus, Williams will be a free agent at the end of this season, so he should be highly motivated to prove his worth with the Steelers.

Williams is only two years removed from a 63/895/4 season with the Chargers. Despite his lack of volume, he is still averaging a solid 13.8 yards per reception this season. The Steelers’ passing game has improved with Russell Wilson under center – the veteran is averaging 9.5 yards per attempt in his two starts – and if Williams finds himself with a full-time role this offense, he has a chance to become a viable fantasy asset again. If Williams is available in your fantasy league, he is a solid gamble to take and stash on your bench.
