Week 9 of the NFL season has arrived! Thursday Night Football is always hit-or-miss from a fantasy perspective, you can either make or break your week in the first game of the slate.
Let’s highlight my start/sit fantasy football picks for Jets vs. Texans on TNF.

Start ‘Em: Davante Adams
Fantasy managers who were expecting Adams to step in as the new No. 1 receiver in New York have been sorely disappointed thus far, as the veteran has definitively slotted in behind Garrett Wilson in the pecking order.
However, this is still Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers we’re talking about. It’s a matter of when their rapport results in a huge performance for the star receiver, not if. The Texans are subpar against receivers from a fantasy perspective, and Adams should see an expanded role with Allen Lazard expected to be sidelined for this matchup. Fire up the veteran as a WR2 with significant upside on Thursday.
Sit ‘Em: C.J. Stroud
The last four weeks have not been kind to Stroud.
The Texans are still winning games, but he hasn’t been producing up to par, failing to score 20 fantasy points in any of the four matchups while combining for just 17.7 over his last two outings. The appeal with Houston’s signal caller heading into the season was the myriad of weapons at his disposal. Currently, that’s no longer the case, as Nico Collins remains on IR and Stefon Diggs is done for the season with a torn ACL.
Stroud’s new top guy could still be in for a busy day — more on that later — but it’s hard to trust the quarterback himself in fantasy lineups, especially with his limited rushing upside.

Start ‘Em: Tank Dell
As I alluded to above, while I’m staying away from C.J. Stroud in this contest, I do expect Tank to have a productive day. After all, someone has to catch the ball for Houston.
Dell put together a solid Week 8 showing, catching four balls for 35 yards and a touchdown. He’s going to have to be much more involved on Thursday if the Texans want to win this game. The matchup is admittedly tough, as Sauce Gardner awaits. However, Dell’s projected target share is enough to land the speedster in strong WR2 range for this contest.
Sit ‘Em: Dalton Schultz
I can’t advise you to sit C.J. Stroud but start his top two targets. That’s just not how this works.
Schultz has been incredibly underwhelming this season, failing to score double-digit points in all eight games. When Nico Collins went down, many expected Schultz to assume a larger role in the passing game. He didn’t.
With Stefon Diggs out of the equation, people are making that same assumption. I need to see it before I believe it. The veteran is talented, but so is the Jets defense, as that unit has allowed the second-fewest passing yards per game. While I still expect Tank to produce, it could be a long day for fantasy managers who are expecting big things out of Schultz.
