Bilal Coulibaly OVER 14.5 Points (+100) – 1.5-units
The Hawks and Wizards just played on Monday night, with Washington stealing the outright victory as an underdog. This generally sets up a good bounce-back spot for the loser of the first game, which does have mean leaning towards the Hawks as the side in the game. However, I’m turning to a player prop on the Washington side that I feel is in a strong spot.
Coulibaly is one of the young centerpieces of Washington’s core, and is off to a terrific start this season. The Wizards had a very tough season opener against the Celtics, and the No. 7 overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft had a tough night. While he managed eight points, it was mostly on 6-of-8 shooting from the free throw line. Coulibaly attempted just two field goals, and played a season-low 30 minutes.
In two games since then, with Washington playing in more competitive games, Coulibaly has played 35 and 37 minutes. That resulted in 23 points against Cleveland and then 17 on Monday against Atlanta. Coulibaly is a capable 3-point shooter, and was feeling it from downtown when he connected on 4-of-9 against the Cavs. While he shot just 1-of-5 from deep against the Hawks, Coulibaly still managed those 17 points. On Wednesday, Kyle Kuzma (who went for 25 points in 40 minutes on Monday) will be out for Washington, opening up even more opportunities on the wing for the Wiz.
Given the role and the paced up matchup, we should be able to project a pretty safe floor here for Coulibaly. With the roster that Washington has, this should be a season that Coulibaly gets a ton of run and looks to take his game to the next level. And if the triples start dropping this time around, playing some 20+ ALTs could even be a good move.
