NFL Week 9 Start or Sit: Tyler Conklin

NFL Week 9 Start or Sit: Tyler Conklin

The Jets’ Tyler Conklin ($5,600 for Showdown) has found the endzone in back-to-back contests, resulting in 11.9 DKFP per game over his last two appearances. However, the tight end is likely to come back down to earth Thursday vs. the Texans.

Even though Conklin has salvaged solid fantasy days with touchdowns the last two weeks, his underlying usage hasn’t been encouraging with Davante Adams ($9,800) in New York. With the star wideout in the mix, Conklin has ranked fourth on the Jets in target share at an underwhelming 12.5%.

The veteran ranks 28th among tight ends in FPTS per snap this season (0.14) and he has scored 5.7 FPTS or less in four of his eight starts. On top of the lack of targets, Conklin is in a tough spot Thursday, with the Texans yielding the second-fewest yards per pass (5.4). They have been especially strong at defending tight ends, with Houston giving up the fewest catches (21) and receiving yards (168) to the position.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Conklin’s’ receiving props are set at only 2.5 catches and 22.5 receiving yards. The tight end’s upside is limited in this brutal spot and Conklin is worth benching for Week 9.
