NASCAR is back and DraftKings is offering a new way to play fantasy NASCAR. The game is simple. Build a “Pick Set” (2+ drivers) and decide if they will outperform their stat projections. Here is some advice to help build your DraftKings Pick6 Pick Sets for the NASCAR Cup Series Xfinity 500 at Martinsville.
Denny Hamlin: Finishing Position – 6.5
Pick6 Play: Worse
Hamlin had one of the fastest cars in practice until he wrecked. Everyone was fast in practice. A close look at the practice times and the minimal fall-off in speed on 25-, 30-, 35- and 40-lap runs reveals that these cars are all about the same. That’s nothing new. The Gen-7 car has brought parity to the sport at every track and the equality is extreme at the short tracks. Hamlin is one of the best drivers ever at Martinsville, but this is an impossible feat. Earning a top-10 finish with equal equipment in a race where passing is limited does not seem likely. Hamlin will need magic on pit road to pull off a top-10 finish. That could happen but that could happen for all of the other cars.
Chase Briscoe: Finishing Position – 10.5
Pick6 Play: Better
The Gen-7 Car is broken at short tracks. Goodyear can try any tire package it wants. It won’t work. The car is too easy to drive. The impact of dirty air is too significant. The cars that start up front, stay up front. The only way to fall out of position is a bad day on pit road. NASCAR fans may lament the downfall of short-track racing but Chase Briscoe doesn’t mind. Martinsville and short tracks in general were a major weakness for the SHR Ford driver. That changed with the easy-driving Gen-7 car. Briscoe has never finished worse than 10th at Martinsville in this racing package.

How to Play DraftKings Pick6
Create a Pick Set
Create a Pick Set by choosing between 2-6 players from the same sport and Pick Group (a set of picks available from a group of set competitions). For each player, simply select if you think they’ll have more or less than their listed stat projection. In each Pick Set, you can not pick the same player twice and you must pick players from at least two different teams.
Enter an Amount
Once you finalize your Pick Set, choose your entry fee amount. Your entries will be automatically distributed into available contests, subject to your confirmation.
Sweat Your Picks
When the games go live, use the My Picks tab to follow your picks in real time to track how your players are performing against their projections and how they stack up against other users.
Compete for Prizes
Make enough correct picks and win a share of the contests’ guaranteed prizes. Any prizes won will be credited to your DraftKings account after contests are finalized.
