As Sofia continues to make moves, Oz continues to flounder. But, that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to episode 5 of The Penguin.
What you need to know before episode 6 of The Penguin
(Warning: Spoilers for episode 5 of The Penguin ahead.)
- Sofia has transformed the Falcone family into the Gigante family, taking control of the organization while casting her father’s name aside in favor of her mother’s. In the process, Johnny Viti ruined any chance he had at surviving her whole takeover.
- Throughout Sofia’s ascension, things move in the opposite direction for Oz. He’s forced to take out Taj Maroni, the son of Salvatore and Nadia, along with Nadia herself. And he did so gruesomely. Oz also set in motion Salvatore’s execution, but that didn’t quite take.
- The events listed above led to two major developments: Oz has gone into hiding, with Victor taking him back to Crown Point, and Sofia met with Salvatore to end the war by proposing an alliance against Penguin.
Teaser for episode 6 of The Penguin
In the next-episode teaser at the end of episode 5 of The Penguin, we saw quick shots of Sofia and Salvatore, but the focus was primarily on Oz. Penguin is settling into his new base of operations, and things seem to be moving in the right direction for him again. Now back where it all started for him, Oz is trying to start a grassroots movement to claw his way to the top.
Will Batman be in this episode?
No. According to director of The Batman and executive producer of The Penguin Matt Reeves, Robert Pattinson’s Batman will not appear in the show.
Timing notes
Episode 5 was the show’s shortest yet at 55 minutes. However, unlike Marvel’s Agatha All Along, episodes of The Penguin have largely been similar in length.
Episode 6 of The Penguin will follow the same release schedule as episodes 2-5. The HBO series will drop the next episode on Max at 9 p.m. ET on Sunday, October 27.
