The PGA TOUR heads to Inzai, Japan this week for the ZOZO Championship. Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club will be the host, and measures as a 7,079-yard par 70 with Bentgrass greens. The field is much stronger this week than what we’ve seen this fall, as the likes of Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Hideki Matsuyama will all be teeing it up.
Below I have outlined my two favorite bets for the week.
Kurt Kitayama to win (+2200)
Kitayama is in the midst of a very nice run, which started with a T6 finish at the 3M Open in late July. He then missed the cut at the Wyndham Championship before coming out hot again this fall, posting finishes of T25 and T9 at the Black Desert Championship and Shriners Children’s Open, respectively.
During this brief stretch, the 2023 Arnold Palmer Invitational winner ranks No. 1 in this field in SG: Tee-to-Green, SG: Approach and SG: Ball-Striking. His flat stick remains an issue, but with conditions expected to play tougher at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club, putting should be a bit muted, while ball-striking will reign supreme.
Kitayama has already demonstrated that he feels comfortable at this course, posting finishes of T29 and T16 over his past two trips. He should also have a slight edge on some of the top guys who haven’t played much golf since the TOUR Championship. With the way he’s dialed in right now — especially with his irons — Kitayama is a strong bet at 22/1.
Rickie Fowler to win (+6500)
I am all in on Fowler this week, as he was also included in my DFS Preview for the week. He’s been playing some stellar golf this fall, posting back-to-back top-23 finishes at the Sanderson Farms and Shriners Children’s Open. Over those two starts, he’s gained a combined 9.2 strokes ball-striking, while gaining strokes on the greens both weeks, as well.
Fowler will be teeing it up at AGNCC for the fourth time in his career, with his best finish coming two years ago when he finished T2 behind Keegan Bradley. The seven-time PGA TOUR winner did not post any top-10 finishes during the 2024 season, but it appears his game is in a strong place right now, and in this smaller field he’s got a real shot to contend.
Fowler’s last win came at the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, so he’s not too far removed from lifting a trophy. All the contextual factors are in place to back him at 65/1 this week.
