UPDATE: On Saturday, Mike Evans (hamstring) was taken off the injury report and is good to go for MNF against the Ravens, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Bucs and Ravens meet in a clash of 4-2 teams in playoff position on one of the games that are part of Week 7’s Monday Night Football doubleheader. One key player whose status is still unclear is Mike Evans ($7,300), who is currently dealing with a hamstring strain.
According to ESPN’s Rick Stroud, Evans worked on the side during Friday’s practice while the practice was open to the media. Stroud reports that Evans won’t practice much this week but is expected to play on Monday.
If he does play, Evans will get a great matchup against the Ravens, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points in the NFL to wide receivers. Evans only had two catches for 34 yards and 5.4 fantasy points in Week 6 after posting 23.4 and 23.2 fantasy points in the two previous weeks. He will be a great bounce-back candidate in this marquee matchup if he continues to trend towards playing.
If Evans is out or limited, Chris Godwin ($7,400) would be a must-play with even more targets coming his way after last week’s monster performance with 38.5 fantasy points against the Saints. In addition to Godwin, Evans’ absence would also be a boost to TE Cade Otton ($3,600), WR Sterling Shepard ($3,400) and WR Trey Palmer ($3,200) as value plays.
If you have Evans or Godwin in season-long leagues, you can plug them into your lineups at least for now, but be sure to check back as injury statuses come out on Saturday. For DFS contests like the NFL $1.5M Monday Special [$500K to 1st] (Mon), Godwin will be a pay-up play that has to be considered while Evans will be higher risk but likely have lower ownership if he plays through the injury, as expected.
Coming into the weekend, the Bucs are 3.5-point home underdogs while Evans is +115 to score a touchdown and Godwin seems to bring great value at +160 to find the end zone.
