The Bengals had a big lead last week against the Ravens before the divisional game got away from them and they fell to 1-4 on the season. In that loss, Zack Moss ($8,000) sustained a foot injury that forced him to leave the game multiple times and miss practice early this week. He did practice later in the week, though, and has no injury designation for Sunday night’s matchup with the Giants.
Moss’ partner in the timeshare in Cincinnati’s backfield, Chase Brown ($8,600) also dealt with an injury this week and was limited Thursday with a quad injury. Coach Zac Taylor said he and Moss were both “good to go” for Sunday, although Brown was later slapped with a questionable tag on the official injury report.
So far this season, Moss has played about two-thirds of the snaps for the Bengals while Brown has played the other third. While no other running back has been in the mix, Trayveon Williams ($2,400) could possibly mix in if either were to miss time.
Moss has at least nine carries in every game this season and had two strong showings with 20.7 fantasy points in Week 3 against the Commanders and 17.8 fantasy points in Week 4 against the Panthers. He also had multiple receptions for the third straight game last week and had 8.2 fantasy points when he was in and out of the game due to his injury. If he were to get more work if Brown is out, he’d be a strong option as a workhorse back.
In Week 3, Brown took his seven carries for 62 yards and recorded multiple catches in his first signs of breaking out. He really burst onto the scene in Week 4 with 80 yards, two rushing touchdowns, and two more catches in the Bengals’ win over the Panthers. In Week 5, Brown set a new personal best with three catches and got his first receiving touchdown while also taking his 12 carries for 46 yards.
The Giants have done a good job limiting running back production in general this season but did give up 10 receptions to the Seahawks’ tandem of Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet last week. If either back is getting all the reps, he would bring a very high floor in PPR leagues and DraftKings scoring. Brown especially has strong touchdown-dependent upside after finding the end zone three times in the last two games.
The Bengals aren’t on the main DFS slate this week since they play the Giants on Sunday Night Football. They are 3.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, and Moss is +100 to score a touchdown while Brown is +105 to find the end zone.
