Opening odds for Week 5 of the NFL on DraftKings Sportsbook

NFL Week 4 is almost in the books, pending two Monday night matchups, but the opening odds for Week 5 are up on DraftKings Sportsbook and it’s time to give a lookey-loo. Hey, Halloween decorations have already permeated our consciousness in late September, so this is just the status quo.

The bye weeks commence in Week 5. The Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans are off.

On Thursday night, we are blessed with a NFC South tussle for supremacy in the division, as the Atlanta Falcons host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

We also get our first London game, as the undefeated Minnesota Vikings take on the 2-2 Jets for the early, early game on Sunday.

The rest of the early Sunday slate consists of six games. Four of those games are within a field goal while there are three home dogs. The late-afternoon slate consists of four games, with two of the biggest favorites. The night game features two of the most historic franchises in NFL history, but they are far from the pinnacles of yesteryear.

Monday night returns to monochrome, as the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs garner all the eyes in primetime.

Here’s the full list of Week 5 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. We will update throughout the week.

Thursday Night Football, October 3rd

Falcons vs. Buccaneers

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
TB Buccaneers+2.5 -108O43 -110+120
ATL Falcons-2.5 -112U43 -110-142

The Falcons have alternated wins and losses to begin the season and are still trying to find their groove with a new quarterback and offensive coordinator. The Buccaneers took a bad loss in Week 3 to the Denver Broncos, but Denver completely shut down the New York Jets and escaped with a win, so maybe not so bad after all? Regardless, Tampa Bay bounced back and thumped the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4.

Sunday Early Games, October 6th

Vikings vs. Jets – London

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
NY Jets+2.5 +100O41.5 -110+120
MIN Vikings-2.5 -120U41.5 -110-142

The Vikings have won all four games, with both the offense and defense clicking. Sam Darnold leads the NFL with 11 touchdowns. The pass defense is top in Pass EPA, sacks and interceptions. The rush defense is top five in both Rush EPA and success rate. The unit has allowed the third-fewest rushing yards and only one touchdown. The New York Jets looked like the best team in the NFL during Week 3. They were the exact opposite of that in Week 4. For context, though, the Patriots are #NotGood, while the Broncos defense is better than perception. In addition, weather slogged down both offenses in Week 3. They can make a statement in this one if they can take care of this hot Vikings team.

Bears vs. Panthers

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
CAR Panthers+4.5 -110O44 -108+180
CHI Bears-4.5 -110U44 -112-218

I’m a little surprised at this total. I do expect the Bears to have success on offense, as the Panthers are the fifth-most generous in passing success rate and have difficulty getting pressure on the quarterback. The Bears do have one of the better defenses in the league, especially when it comes to pass defense. The unit has allowed the seventh-lowest success rate and third-lowest quarterback rating. Respect for Andy Dalton.

Jaguars vs. Colts

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
IND Colts+3 -108O45.5 -110+140
JAX Jaguars-3 -112U45.5 -110-166

The Jaguars are one of two teams yet to get a win. Interestingly, the other winless team happens to be in the AFC South as well; the Tennessee Titans. The big story for this one, though, is that Anthony Richardson may not play due to suffering an injury in Week 4. Joe Flacco entered the game and guided the Colts to the 27-24 win over a tough Steelers defense. The Jaguars probably want Richardson under center.

Commanders vs. Browns

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
CLE Browns+3.5 -110O43.5 -110+164
WAS Commanders+3.5 -110U43.5 -110-198

The Cleveland Browns are….gross. They have not scored more than 21 points in any game and have one win—an 18-13 victory over the 0-4 Jacksonville Jaguars. The Washington Commanders are white hot at the moment. All honor and glory must be bestowed upon their rookie quarterback, Jayden Daniels. He’s throwing. He’s running. He’s winning. He’s currently leading the league in Total EPA with a whopping 50.7. Josh Allen is second at 48. Only one other quarterback is above 20.

Patriots vs. Dolphins

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
MIA Dolphins-1 -105O36.5 -112-112
NE Patriots+1 -115U36.5 -108-108

After experiencing one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history, the Patriots are now enduring one of the most head-splitting hangovers. New England has scored over 13 points just once this season while Jacoby Brissett has not thrown for more than 170 yards in a game. He had one game with fewer than 100 yards. The Dolphins have been squished due to an injury to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Snoop Huntley will start in this one, and he could inject a little life into the offense due to his running prowess, but this game has the lowest total of the week.

Sunday Late Afternoon Games

49ers vs. Cardinals

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
ARI Cardinals+7.5 -110O49 -110+300
SF 49ers-7.5 -110U49 -110-380

The 49ers are the biggest favorite on the week. While they are 2-2 on the season, San Francisco suffered some injuries but are getting healthier as Deebo Samuel and George Kittle returned to action in Week 4. The Cardinals have only one win on the season and just got eviscerated by the Commanders at home.

Broncos vs. Raiders

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
LV Raiders+1.5 -110O37 -108+105
DEN Broncos-1.5 -110U37 -112-125

After allowing 26 points to the Seahawks in the opener, the Broncos defense has allowed six, seven and nine points against the Steelers, Buccaneers and Jets. The unit is seventh in Rush EPA and second in Pass EPA. After staying on the east coast for the last two weeks, the Broncos return to Mile High for this one. The range of outcomes is wide for the Raiders. They beat the Ravens but then got smoked by the Panthers at home. They could have some issues in Denver, though, because they’ve been unable to run the ball and the Broncos have been tough to pass against. Plus, the Raiders have been passing at the highest rate in the league.

Rams vs. Packers

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
GB Packers-3.5 -110O46.5 -110-198
LA Rams+3.5 -110U46.5 -110+164

The Rams are 1-3 on the season, but they are never out of it as long as Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams and Sean McVay are on the squad, as their 27-24 over the 49ers in Week 3 shows. That said, they are without their top two receivers in Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua while the defense has been one of the worst in the league. The Packers lost to the Vikings in Week 4, but Jordan Love did return to action and he went 32-of-54 for 389 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.

Seahawks vs. Giants

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
NY Giants+6.5 -110O42 -110+225
SEA Seahawks-6.5 -110U42 -110-278

Seattle is 3-0 but have wins over the Broncos, Patriots and Tua-less Dolphins. The schedule continues to be laid with yellow bricks as the Giants come into town. New York has scored over 20 points just once this season, but Malik Nabers is a superstar and has been peppered with 18, 12 and 15 targets over the last three games.

Sunday Night Game

Steelers vs. Cowboys

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
DAL Cowboys+2 -110O41.5 -110+105
PIT Steelers-2 -110U41.5 -110-125

The Steelers defense was dominant to begin the season, allowing 10, six and 10 points to the Falcons, Broncos and Chargers. They got ambushed in Indianapolis in Week 4, allowing 27 points, 225 passing yards and 133 rushing yards. On the season, the unit is on top in Rush EPA. This contest will likely come down to the Steelers’ rushing game against the Cowboys’ rush defense. Dallas has allowed the highest Rush EPA, but Pittsburgh is 31st in Rush EPA. The Steelers are 30th in pass rate, so if they can run the ball, it could be a long night for Dallas.

Monday Night Game, October 7th

Chiefs vs. Saints

Odds on Sunday, September 29

SpreadTotalMoneyline
NO Saints+5.5 -112O43 -110+200
KC Chiefs-5.5 -108U43 -110-245

After the Saints scored 47 and 44 points in the first two weeks, many were crowning this offense as the greatest thing since sliced bread. They have scored 12 and 24 points over the last two weeks, losing both contests, and now I don’t know up from down. The back-to-back champs have not started this season as chumps since they have rolled off four straight wins, but the offense hasn’t been dominant. The defense should get most of the credit, as Steven Spagnuolo has been a wizard concocting havoc on opposing offenses. New Orleans has played excellent pass defense this season with the sixth-best Pass EPA and Rashee Rice suffered a potential season-ending injury in Week 4, so it could be tough sledding for Patrick Mahomes.
