Fantasy Football Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Week 4 Cheat Sheet

Published:

By: Jeff Pratt

Do you have tough lineup decisions to make Sunday? I’ve got you covered.

Welcome to your one-stop shop for Week 4 fantasy football start/sit advice. In this article, I’ll highlight one pick from each of my positional start ’em, sit ’em articles for this week’s slate. Check out each article for a deeper dive into that position!

Quarterback

Start ‘Em: Joe Burrow (Bengals) at Panthers

After an underwhelming Week 1 effort, Burrow has bounced back nicely from a fantasy perspective. While it hasn’t translated to wins for the Bengals, their quarterback has scored 42.6 points over the last couple games. With Tee Higgins back at his disposal and Cincy’s offensive arsenal fully healthy, Burrow racked up 324 yards and three touchdowns against the Commanders.

This week, Burrow will take on a Carolina defense that has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Andy Dalton replacing Bryce Young could actually prove to be a positive thing for Burrow’s fantasy production, as we could be looking at a closer contest than if Young was under center for the Panthers.

Things appear to finally be clicking for the Bengals’ offense, which means you can fire up the man who runs it with confidence in starting lineups.

Running Back

Sit ‘Em: J.K. Dobbins (Chargers) vs. Chiefs

After two electric games to open the season, Dobbins came back down to earth against a stout Steelers run defense.

This week, it won’t get much easier, as the Chargers host the reigning back-to-back Super Bowl champs. The Chiefs boast an elite defensive line, holding opposing running backs to the third-fewest fantasy points per contest so far in 2024. It’s also worth noting that Justin Herbert’s availability is completely up in the air for this matchup after aggravating his high-ankle sprain. There’s a decent chance L.A.’s quarterback won’t be able to suit up, and even if he does, he’ll be quite limited.

As a result, there’s a strong likelihood this game will get away from the Chargers quick. While they may stress the run game early, Greg Roman could be forced to abandon the game script after just a few drives. Temper expectations for Dobbins despite his recent strong outings.

Wide Receiver

Start ‘Em: Khalil Shakir (Bills) at Ravens

If you’re not on the Khalil Shakir hype train at this point, this is likely the last stop.

I wrote up Shakir as a start in last week’s article, and he proceeded to score 19.2 PPR points with six receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown. Josh Allen’s No. 1 receiving threat has caught 14 balls through three games, nearly twice as many as the next-most productive receivers in Buffalo.

This week, the Bills take on a Ravens secondary that has shockingly allowed the most receiving yards (291.7) per game this season. As Shakir continues to strengthen his rapport with Allen, I expect consistent high-end WR2 production from the speedster.

Tight End

Sit ‘Em: Dalton Schultz (Texans) vs. Jaguars

I have now written up Schultz as a sit in Week 1 and Week 3. Not only did he fail to meet fantasy expectations in either game, but he also struggled in Week 2. At this point, the only logical reason you’re considering starting the veteran is because of his name value and the offense he plays in.

It’s not worth it.

The 28-year-old has received a very strong snap share through three weeks, but it hasn’t translated to production, as he’s racked up just seven catches for 48 yards. C.J. Stroud’s pecking order in the receiving corps has been established: Nico Collins is the guy and Stefon Diggs is the No. 2 option, while Schultz and Tank Dell are on the outside looking in. Until Schultz carves out a more sizable role in Houston’s passing attack, he shouldn’t make your starting lineup.
