Despite a hot 3-0 start, not every Seahawk has been thriving in 2024. Wide receiver Tyler Lockett ($5,000) has struggled out of the gates, recording just 138 receiving yards through three games. As it stands, the former Pro Bowler is on track for his worst statistical season since 2017.
Heading into a potential shootout against the Lions (over/under 46 points), can fantasy managers trust Lockett on Monday night? So far, Geno Smith () has thrown the ball primarily to D.K. Metcalf ($6,500) and Jaxson Smith-Njigba ($5,500). The two wideouts lead the team in targets with 24 and 21, respectively. Lockett, who paced Seattle in targets last season, has a modest 17.
The main issue for Lockett is that, unlike Metcalf and Smith-Njigba, the veteran is far more dependent on catches between the 20s to maintain value in fantasy leagues, especially in PPR formats. At 32 years old, the veteran doesn’t have the same level of quickness; his 10.6 yards per reception this season are a career-low.
There is some room for optimism, though. Seattle has the tenth most pass attempts this season despite comfortable wins in Weeks 1 and 3. In Detroit, the Seahawks are 3.5-point underdogs. To stay in the game against a Super Bowl contender, Smith might be throwing the ball early and often.
It’ll be tough to slot Lockett in your Week 4 lineup with confidence. While he’s always been a low-floor, high-ceiling option, we have yet to see any of the “boom” games this year. I don’t think we’ll get a performance similar to Week 2 against the Patriots (two catches, 15 yards), but it’s impossible to trust Lockett to produce flex-worthy numbers this week.
