With Davante Adams expected to sit, start Tre Tucker

Davante Adams is the alpha of the Raiders’ receiving corps, playing at least 94% of the snaps in every game so far and leading the team with 27 targets. That’s translated to 18 receptions for 209 yards and a touchdown.

However, he popped up on the injury report for Thursday’s practice with a hamstring issue. There’s been no word of how the injury occurred or the severity of it. He did practice fully on Wednesday.

If he’s unable to play in Week 4, Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker would slide up the depth chart. The Raiders have utilized 11 personnel 75% of the time, but DJ Turner has played a total of 21 snaps on the season, so I’m not sure they go that route if Adams is out. More than likely, they will utilize two tight ends with Brock Bowers splitting out.

Tucker has played in 78%, 60% and 81% of the snaps this season. He’s lined up out wide 71.6% of the time, so he’s going to be out there. Despite being only 5-foot-9 and 187 pounds, Tucker has a 50% win rate vs. man defense and runs a 4.4 40-yard dash.

The Week 4 matchup against the Cleveland Browns is a difficult one because the Browns have one of the better pass defenses in the league. They are eighth in passing success rate and fifth in quarterback pressure rate. They also play man defense at the fifth-highest rate.

While this game has the second-lowest total of the week at 37, the Raiders lead the league in passing rate at 69.1%. In addition, the Raiders have the lowest success rate trying to run the ball, so Gardner Minshew will likely attempt over 30 passes in this one. The pie will be concentrated with Adams out, and with Tucker’s speed and the Browns playing heavy man defense, there’s upside that he breaks one for a touchdown.
