Romeo Doubs Start or Sit: Week 3 Fantasy Football Advice

Romeo Doubs Start or Sit: Week 3 Fantasy Football Advice

It is difficult to fully set expectations for the Green Bay Packers wide receiver group. Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks each have their individual pros and cons. Each is capable of producing on any given week.

This presents one of the most difficult problems for fantasy football owners. So far in the 2024 season, each of these wide receivers has recorded at least three receptions. None, however, have had more than ten targets thrown their way. Jayden Reed leads the team in receiving with 147 yards while Doubs is second with 112 receiving yards. Reed, Christian Watson, and Dontayvion Wicks have all found their way into the end zone so far this year.

Heading into Week 3, the Packers are set to face off with the Tennessee Titans. Green Bay is considered +124 underdogs on the moneyline while the Titans are three-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under for the game is set at 37.5 points in the matchup.

Romeo Doubs Fantasy Football Outlook

Romeo Doubs started off the 2024 season by catching four of his seven targets for 50 yards in the opening week. He then followed this up in Week 2 by catching all three of his targets for 62 yards with his longest receptions being for 39 yards. The ten targets that were thrown in his direction are the most of all Packers’ wide receivers which is notable. Jayden Reed has been targeted eight times, Dontayvion Wicks has been targeted seven times, while Tucker Kraft and Christian Watson have each been thrown the ball five times.

Doubs is in his third year in the NFL. After originally being drafted in the 4th round of the NFL draft, the Nevada standout recorded 425 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie. He improved on this last season tallying 59 receptions for 674 yards and eight touchdowns.

Looking ahead at the Week 3 matchup with the Titans, there is room for Doubs to make his impact felt. Tennessee is 0-2 on the season and has allowed 24.0 points per game in the opening two weeks. This ranks 24th in the NFL. There has not been a true breakout wide receiver against Tennessee yet, but this could have more to do with Caleb Williams struggling and Aaron Rodgers shaking off the rust in the first two games. While the secondary is respectable, led by L’Jarius Snead and Quandre Diggs, the widespread attack by Green Bay could cause some problems.

The biggest concern with Doubs is competition within his own team for targets. But based on what has been seen in the first two weeks he is a name worth having in your Week 3 fantasy football lineups. Currently, he has averaged 18.2 fantasy points per game based on DraftKings DFS scoring which ranks 43rd among all wide receivers.

Doubs leads the Packers in targets and has been on the field for an average of 83% of offensive snaps. Even with Reed statistically outperforming Doubs, Reed was on the field for just 72% of the offensive snaps in the opening week and 56% last week.

Bottom Line

With the most clearcut opportunity on the team, bank on Romeo Doubs to deliver. It is set to be a frustrating season in which there will be some up-and-down production throughout the season. But expect Doubs to rise up the ranks as a reliable wide receiver. This begins Week 3 against the Titans. Don’t expect him to be breaking into the conversation for the NFL’s most elite wide receivers, but feel fine about Doubs as a WR2, WR3, or flex play.
