NASCAR is back and DraftKings is offering a new way to play fantasy NASCAR. The game is simple. Build a โPick Setโ (2-6 drivers) and decide if they will outperform their stat projections. Here is some advice to help build your DraftKings Pick6 Pick Sets for the NASCAR Cup Series Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Denny Hamlin: Finishing Position – 4.5
Pick6 Play: Better
Denny Hamlin is six points below the cutline. Thatโs nothing, but Bristol is not nothing. The racing at The Last Great Colosseum can be treacherous. The bull ring in the Smokey Mountains is The Worldโs Fastest Half-Mile. The race can change in a split second. Itโs 500 grueling laps. The lateral force is 3.3 Gs at Bristol. Itโs comparable to the G-force that astronauts feel when taking off in the Space Shuttle. Why does that matter? Hamlin wasnโt great in practice. But thatโs practice. Itโs significant but itโs not 500 laps. Hamlin posted similar sluggish speeds in the spring but still won the Bristol race. Three in a row at Bristol and his fourth win in the last eight Bristol races seems inevitable. Hand him the sword.
Alex Bowman: Finishing Position – 8.5
Pick6 Play: Better
Respect is earned. Bowman has earned it. DraftKings NASCAR Pick6 does not agree. Itโs not surprising. Very few show love for The Showman. He raced with underdog teams and was a sim driver before getting his big break. He took that break and broke it in two. No, he broke it into a possible championship run. Heโs the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series Champion dark horse. Joey Logano stole a championship with consistency and a big win at the end several seasons ago. Bowman can do the same.
Bowman was fast in practice. The Hendrick Chevys are fast. The No. 48 Chevy has always been great at the high-banked, concrete tracks. Bowman has continued that excellence after Jimmie Johnson stepped out of the seat. Bowman finished fourth in the spring race after starting 29th. This time he has track position in a race that will be all about track position. Bristol is a great track but the Gen-7 car is not. Passing in dirty air is not easy. If Bowman avoids a crucial mistake, then he should easily be able to hold position and earn a top-5 finish.
