Will Alvin Kamara score a touchdown in Week 3?

Through two games, the New Orleans Saints have shocked the entire NFL.

What was a mediocre 9-8 squad has now become a juggernaut. Last season’s 14th-ranked offense in total yardage now sits at third. Derek Carr has gone from washed to MVP candidate. The defense stifled Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. While much has changed, one thing has remained the same: Alvin Kamara is still elite.

During last Sunday’s 44-19 drubbing in Dallas, AK41 went off for 181 yards and four touchdowns. Even at 29 years old, the veteran still has plenty of burst.

It was the kind of day that evoked Kamara’s legendary six-touchdown performance on Christmas Day, 2020. At his current five-touchdown pace, the do-it-all New Orleans’ running back could emerge as a sneaky Offensive Player of the Year candidate.

In contrast, the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense is facing plenty of questions after a last-minute loss to the Falcons on Monday Night Football. While the pass defense allowed QB Kirk Cousins to conduct a game-winning drive, it was on the ground where Atlanta torched the Birds. Philadelphia surrendered over five yards per carry on the ground, continuing a worrying trend from last year. According to Next Gen Stats, the Eagles are giving up 105 rush yards over expected, which is last in all of football.

The reality is that Philly’s defense is not what it used to be; heading into their Week 3 showdown, the Saints offense has the clear edge. DraftKings Sportsbook has currently set the game total at 49.5, the second-highest this week. Expect plenty of points for New Orleans as they look to keep pace with a dangerous Philadelphia offense.

Everyone knows Kamara and the Saints are a good bet to reach 20+ points, so it’s no surprise his current anytime touchdown odds on DraftKings Sportsbook are currently -210. A better play might be to go big; Kamara’s odds to score two touchdowns sit at +270.
