Thursday night’s game between the New York Jets and New England Patriots has a total of 38.5 points, with the Jets implied for 22.25 points and the Patriots for 16.25 on DraftKings Sportsbook. So touchdowns should be scored. But who will score the first one?
On DK Sportsbook, Breece Hall is currently the favorite at +320. And it makes sense because Hall is heavily involved in the offense and can contribute both on the ground and through the air. He has 30 carries and 12 receptions through two games and has scored a rushing and a receiving touchdown. But he has only two red zone opportunities.
There are two other options I prefer more, though.
Garrett Wilson is at +650 to score the first touchdown. His season hasn’t been great so far, hauling in 10 of 17 targets for 117 yards without a touchdown, but the Patriots play man defense at the fourth-highest rate and Wilson is excellent against man defense. In addition, the Patriots have difficulty getting pressure on the quarterback, even while blitzing, so Rodgers should have plenty of time to find Wilson, who has three red zone looks on the season and is primed for a breakout performance.
My favorite longshot is Hunter Henry at +1900. He is coming off a 12-target game and could see double-digit targets once again. The Jets boast one of the best cornerback groups in the league, which should negate the wide receivers for the Patriots and funnel targets to Henry. He has two red zone looks on the season.
