It’s been over three years since we found out it was Agatha all along, and she’s finally set to return to the MCU with her own show.
Before Agatha All Along kicks off on Disney+, here’s a look back at where Kathryn Hahn’s character was left following the conclusion of WandaVision.
First, the twist
Who could forget the hit single “It Was Agatha All Along,” which revealed Hahn’s Agnes was actually Agatha Harkness — a powerful witch after Wanda’s power.
The song’s tune gets all the credit, but its impact wasn’t just its catchyness. This was an efficient layering of WandaVision’s already meta nature.
Going into the last two episodes, it put the focus on Agatha vs. Wanda. But, it wasn’t a simple good vs. evil fight, with Wanda learning what the people of Westview underwent because of her.
What went down
In the ninth and final episode of WandaVision — titled “The Series Finale” — Agatha does everything she can to take the powers of the Scarlet Witch from Wanda.
Things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
That’s because Wanda utilized a tactic she’d learned from Agatha previously to flip the script. So, Hahn’s character wound up being the one who walked away from the show powerless.
Wanda went on to hide in solitude until a certain sorcerer decided to bug her (see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). Agatha had her sort of solitude, as well. But it wasn’t by choice.
After draining Agatha of her power, Wanda decided to keep her in town. Not only that, Wanda cast her again in the role of “the nosy neighbor” — a role Agatha thrived in previously.
“Did I leave the oven on or is that you, hot stuff?”
And that’s where we should find Agatha at the start of this new Disney+ series. In a place where “no one will ever bother” her.
