The Royals scored four runs in the third inning and things were looking like they were going to return to the winning ways after dropping Sunday’s game in Pittsburgh. All off the bat of Bobby Witt Jr. ($6,500; 30 FPTS), who sent a 1-1 pitch into the left field seats for the grand slam.
Witt also stole a base.
Unfortunately, Seth Lugo ($8,700; 4.5 FPTS), who had gone seven innings in each of the last three starts while striking out 10, four and nine batters and allowing a combined two earned runs, couldn’t get out of the fifth inning.
Colt Keith ($3,300; 16 FPTS) delivered the knockout blow with a two-run home run on the first pitch he saw.
Lugo finished the night with two walks, four strikeouts and four earned runs on eight hits.
Zach McKinstry ($2,800; 20 FPTS) had a double, a triple, scored a run and stole a base.
The Tigers have now won seven of the last nine games and are 1.5 games out of a Wild Card slot.
In the $100K Relay Throw tournament, Keith was rostered on 4% of teams while McKinstry was on 2.1%. Lugo was rostered on 13.7% while Witt was on 8.1%.
