Agatha All Along Disney+ Cast: Which character could get a spin-off

A spin-off of a spin-off? Yeah, you read that right.

Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along series is set to begin on Disney+, marking the title character’s return to the MCU mix after Wanda Maximoff went nuclear on her in WandaVision. But while Kathryn Hahn will be front and center this go-around, she’s not the only Marvel Comics character featured in this story. That’s very much on-brand, and this has not only allowed Marvel Studios to enrich their stories but also test out characters for the future.

But before getting into candidates, there’s another factor to consider.

Adjust the volume

Agatha All Along will be the 11th Marvel Studios Disney+ show released since WandaVision kicked off the initiative in 2021. Two of those shows have gotten a second season (Loki and What if…). In that same time frame, 11 Marvel Studios films have hit the big screen.

That’s been a lot to take in, and even Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said as much to Entertainment Weekly in a 2023 interview:

“It is harder to hit the zeitgeist when there’s so much product out there — and so much “content,” as they say, which is a word that I hate.”

In that same conversation, Feige was asked if there will be fewer Marvel projects as a result of the sentiment he shared or more space between projects.

“Both, I think.”

So, consider that information with not only Agatha All Along but also other Marvel shows and movies in the future.

Spin-off candidates

Going in, it feels like two actors have the chance to be featured prominently in Marvel going forward:

  • Joe Locke
  • Aubrey Plaza

Wiccan?

If there were odds on this, Locke would probably be the favorite — despite the fact his character name has not been listed. Locke’s character is suspected to be Wiccan. In the comics, he is the reincarnation of William Maximoff, who we saw in WandaVision. But while Wiccan also goes by William, his surname is Kaplan.

When factoring in Feige’s comments above, a Wiccan solo movie or show seems like a reach. However, with the Young Avengers expected to enter the mix at some point, he could play a part alongside the likes of America Chavez, Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang.

Rio Vadal?

If you’re wondering. “Who in the world is Rio Vadal?” trust me, you are not alone.

That’s who Plaza is listed as playing. But there’s also been speculation that she could be something more. WandaVision was filled with deception, and Agatha All Along has been riddled with it throughout the show’s marketing. Heck, Locke is one of the lead actors and his character name isn’t even listed! It’s not exactly wild to think that we’ll find out Plaza’s current listed character name is another form of deception.

Now, again, I don’t think she’ll get a solo spin-off. But with Marvel looking to build the mystical branch of the MCU, she could play a big role if Plaza turns out to be something more ancient and powerful.
