It took the perfect blend of chalk and contrarian plays which landed the top spot in Week 2’s fantasy football millionaire on DraftKings. Sampit16 threaded the needle perfectly on the way to a Crowning Moment in Week 2. The entry racked up 229.92 fantasy points to claim the top spot on Sunday’s 13-game Sunday afternoon slate.
Here’s what the winning entry looked like:
The top performer of the week on DraftKings was Alvin Kamara ($7,000; 47 FPTS), who ran all over the Cowboys in Dallas and finished with 15 more fantasy points than any other player on the slate. He scored four touchdowns with 115 rushing yards and 65 receiving yards on two catches.
Since he was owned in under 5% of lineups, Kamara was a key differentiator on the way to this week’s “Crowning Moment” for Sampit16 and many of the other top entries.
While going against the chalk paid off with Kamara, the other running back spot was as much of a “free space” as there was on Sunday’s board. Jordan Mason ($5,200; 20.4 FPTS) had 100 yards and a touchdown for the second straight week while filling in for the injured Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf). Since CMC’s injury news broke late in the week after salaries were out, Mason was still priced as a backup but delivered a star-like performance and is likely going to see a huge salary spike for Week 3.
At wide receiver, the winning entry from Sampit16 had a pair of rookies who went off in Week 2. Even though the Giants lost to the Commanders at the end of regulation, Malik Nabers ($5,900; 31.7 FPTS) had over 100 yards and his first NFL touchdown.
The winning entry partnered Nabers with his cheap QB, and used Daniel Jones ($5,300; 18.3 FPTS) as a solid value. Jones finished the week as the No. 7 QB and represented solid value, especially when paired with his productive top wide receiver.
The only receiver taken ahead of Nabers in last year’s NFL Draft was Marvin Harrison Jr. ($6,900; 32 FPTS). After a disappointing Week 1, MHJ answered Nabers’ big game with a breakout performance of his own in the late game.
Harrison is, so far, the top-scoring wide receiver of the week, taking his four catches on eight targets for a total of 130 yards and scoring his first two NFL touchdowns.
Harrison was a strong leverage play at only 3.6% ownership, but he wasn’t the only Cardinal in the winning entry. Trey McBride ($6,000; 18.7 FPTS) also had a nice bounce-back after Week 1, catching all six of his targets for 67 yards. He didn’t score a receiving touchdown but did get a fumble recovery for a touchdown after his teammate James Conner fumbled into the end zone in the fourth quarter.
Chris Godwin ($6,000; 27.7 FPTS) and J.K. Dobbins ($5,400; 23.1 FPTS) were fairly chalky plays with over 20% ownership against the Lions and Panthers, respectively. Both veterans delivered big games, though, with over 100 yards and a touchdown.
Rounding out the winning entry, the Cardinals DST ($2,300; 11 FPTS) had a big day as a value option holding the Rams to just ten points and forcing a fumble while picking up five sacks.
Using the Cardinals as a defense and Jones at QB left this entry enough salary to pay up for all the stars who went off, while also still returning solid value.
