Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (thigh) officially active for today’s game vs. Broncos

Updated:

By: Dan Johnson

UPDATE: Tyler Lockett ($5,400) (thigh) will officially be active for the Seahawks season-opener against the Broncos. Lockett battled a thigh injury throughout the week and was listed as questionable. However, he’s officially got the green light to play ahead of the game’s start.

Lockett has been a staple in the Seahawks offense in the nine seasons he has spent with the organization. The 31-year-old has eclipsed 1,000 yards receiving in four of the past five seasons and will be looking to start 2024 off on the right foot.

Seattle will be looking to start this season with a win after narrowly missing the playoffs with their 9-8 record. They will enter the opening week matchup against the Broncos as 6.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. –Sean Barnard

According to Michael Shawn-Dugar of The Athletic, Seahawks wideout Tyler Lockett ($5,400) (thigh) will be listed as questionable on the official injury report headed into Seattle’s Week 1 home opener against the Denver Broncos. However, Dugar notes that the team expects Lockett to play.

That means Lockett is good to go for your NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st] lineups on Draftkings DFS on Sunday. But only if you want to risk him at this price!

Analysis

Season-long and DFS fantasy managers have a right to be concerned about Lockett’s health headed into this weekend. This lingering leg soreness, now labeled as a thigh injury, has hung around all training camp. The Seahawks are deep at wideout, as well. They’ve got DK Metcalf ($5,400), second year standout Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($4,900), Laviska Shenault ($3,300), and 12th-man favorite Jake Bobo ($3,000) rounding out the receiver room.

In 2023, Lockett once more showcased his reliability as a key target with 79 receptions on 122 targets. He averaged 11.3 yards per catch, and accumulated 894 receiving yards. He was, generally, a weekly marquee name atop the air yards lists. Lockett also had 5 receiving touchdowns on the season—a stat upon which many expect Lockett to improve in his tenth season.

If Lockett is whatsoever limited, Metcalf becomes a significant bargain at his $6,200 price. But, of all the above options, I like Smith-Njigba at $4,900, regardless of Lockett’s injury. However, JSN is due to see way more work if Lockett’s snap count is down.

We’ve seen this before with Lockett, and we’ll see it again: hes limited at practice throughout the week, but he plays on Sundays. Just consider this early exposure to the season-long roller coaster ride that are Tyler Lockett’s weekly injury designations. –Dan Johnson
