Houston took the opener of a four-game set in Baltimore on Thursday by the count of 6-0. On Friday, it looked to be another cake walk, as it scored four runs in the third inning, then added another in the sixth for the 5-2 lead.
Jose Altuve ($5,400; 21 FPTS) opened up the scoring with a two-run home run. Jeremy Pena ($4,500; 23 FPTS) followed that up with an RBI-double, then Jake Meyers ($3,300; 10 FPTS) plated Pena with a single. Pena then hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
On the mound for the Astros, Hunter Brown ($9,400; 20.5 FPTS) was dealing, striking out six in six innings while walking two and allowing one earned run on three hits. The lone blemish was a solo shot by Colton Cowser ($4,800; 19 FPTS) in the third inning. The Orioles scored their other run on an error in the first inning.
Then the bottom of the eighth came.
Cowser led off with a single. Adley Rutschman ($5,100; 7 FPTS) notched another single with Cowser advancing to third base. After a fielder’s choice loaded the bases, Anthony Santander ($5,400; 25 FPTS) worked the count to 2-1, then sent a pitch over the right field fence for a grand slam. My handy abacus says that Baltimore now leads 6-5 after trailing 5-2.
Ramon Urias ($3,100; 15 FPTS) finished off the inning with an RBI-triple to make the final score 7-5.
