During the second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills, Warren suffered a hamstring injury and exited the game. On Sunday, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Warren could miss a few weeks and his status for Week 1 is unknown.
Warren has been a popular running back target entering the season. In DK Best Ball tournaments, he is ranked 90th overall, one spot below Najee Harris, but drafters were selecting him right ahead of Harrisโ88th overall on average. That should now change, with Harris getting a boost.
Last season, Harris received 606 snaps while Warren had a healthy 546, but Warren out-targeted Harris, 74-38. Harris did have 50 red zone opportunities, compared to 26 for Warren.
The Steelers are very intriguing this season, due to the acquisitions of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at quarterback, a new offensive coordinator in Arthur Smith, and a beefed up offensive line.
Wilson and Fields aren’t great quarterbacks by any stretch of the imagination, but they are upgrades from Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph and Mitch Trubisky. The two new faces in Pittsburgh should provide better efficiency on offense and possibly more sustained drives.
Arthur Smith believes in the run, dreams about runs, schemes for the run, focuses on the run and implements the run into the weekly game plan. The Steelers were already 28th in run/pass ratio last season, and should challenge for the lowest marks this season.
Pittsburgh addressed the offensive line in the first round of the 2022 and 2023 drafts. In the most recent draft, they used a second-round pick on center Zach Frazier. PFF has the Steelers ranked as the ninth-best offensive line heading into the upcoming season.
