BYU vs. Utah prediction
The Holy War kicks off at 10am local time, but expect it to get rowdy early. BYU won this matchup at home last season, and now the undefeated Utes will be out for revenge. Utah has a serious home field advantage, and we saw that play out in the win (and absurd cover) against Houston.
The Utes didn’t fall into the flat spot looking ahead to this matchup last week. Actually the complete opposite, getting off to a 42-7 halftime lead in a blowout victory. Meanwhile, BYU has one of the best wins of the season as a double digit home dog over Notre Dame, but the Cougars have been sleepwalking a bit since. They went down in double overtime in Orlando to UCF, and then barely beat Arizona State at home last week.
BYU is a very good team, but I feel Utah is tougher on defense and more creative and explosive on offense. Combine those things with home field and revenge, and I think the Utes come out on top.
BYU vs. Utah best bet
I was hoping to lay around -3 here, but the number has been bet out. It even touched -6 at one point at some shops, before settling in around the middle. In my best bets article that I linked to above, I wound up settling on an LSU/Utah moneyline parlay at +115 when it was published.
But if you want to bet this game straight, the only side I’d take is laying the points with Utah at home. The alternative would be to look to Halftime/Fulltime — backing Utah to lead at halftime and go on to win the game, which is priced at even money at DK.
