Best NHL Anytime Goal Scorer Picks for November 6
Tage Thompson Anytime Goal Scorer (+105)
Thompson has found the back of the net five times over his past three games, including a hat trick in Anaheim on Oct. 29, and his 10 goals lead the Sabres. The 29-year-old simply never stops shooting, ranking second in shots on goal per 60 (13.37) among 584 skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, and he has scored 40 or more goals in three of the past four seasons.
Columbus has controlled just 44.0% of the xGoals over its past 10 games (29th), and it’s on the second night of a back-to-back after Cam Talbot started last night against Dallas. That leaves Jet Greaves as the likely starter tonight with an .883 SV% and 3.11 GAA, and his -0.7 GSAx and -0.18% SV% above expected both rank 38th among 74 goaltenders. Thompson skates on Buffalo’s top line and first power-play unit, too.
Beckett Sennecke Anytime Goal Scorer (+190)
Dustin Wolf has struggled mightily for Calgary, and that makes this a great spot for one of Anaheim’s best finishers. Wolf will start with an .870 SV% and 3.71 GAA, and his -5.5 GSAx ranks 69th, while his -1.10% SV% above expected ranks 56th.
Sennecke scored twice in Edmonton last night, giving the 20-year-old 10 goals in 16 games, second on the Ducks behind only Cutter Gauthier. Half of those have come on the power play, and Anaheim’s man advantage ranks second in the NHL (36.2%), with Sennecke on the top unit. Calgary’s penalty kill ranks ninth (84.0%), so there isn’t much to exploit, but his 1.84 goals per 60 rank 19th among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, and he already scored against the Flames on Oct. 13.
Blake Coleman Anytime Goal Scorer (+310)
Coleman hasn’t scored in five straight games, but it’s mostly been bad luck, as he has scored just four goals on 5.4 xGoals this season. Among skaters with at least 100 minutes of ice time, the 34-year-old ranks T-43rd in high-danger unblocked attempts per 60 (1.34), and he scored 20 goals last season.
San Jose has allowed 30.2 shots per game (fourth-most) and controlled just 42.6% of the 5v5 xGoals this season (29th). Coleman’s line with Michael McCarron and Bobby Brink has controlled 66.7% of the 5v5 xGoals and outscored opponents 3-0 in 53 minutes together. Yaroslav Askarov has been solid between the pipes for the Sharks, ranking 17th in GSAx (+3.1), but +310 is a nice price for a second-liner who takes high-quality shots.
