Arsenal were on the wrong end of one of the biggest upsets in English football history on Tuesday against Fleetwood Town as they drew 1-1 with the League Two side and were knocked out of the competition in a penalty shoot-out. Liverpool also went to a shoot-out in their match on Wednesday but they managed to get the win against Chelsea. Arsenal were knocked out in historic fashion, while the Reds figured out how to get the job done against a fellow big six club.
In terms of the Premier League, Arsenal have been the better team in this competition so far this season. They are second in the league, and six points ahead of Liverpool who are in fourth. However, the Gunners have historically struggled at Anfield. Arsenal’s last win at Anfield in the Premier League was 14 years ago in 2012, when Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla found the net. It’s been a long time coming for the Gunners, but while I do think this game will be very competitive, history says the Reds won’t lose. Give me Liverpool to get a result against the champions.
