Chargers vs. Rams NFL Player Prop Bets for Week 8

Updated:

By: Caleb Wilfinger

Sunday’s loaded NFL Week 8 slate features a west coast showdown between the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium, with kickoff set for 4:05 p.m. ET.

The Chargers (0-6) are in the midst of a miserable season, but they have showed signs of life in recent weeks. On the other side, the Rams (3-4) bounced back after a brutal loss to the Cardinals with a much-needed win over the Raiders a week ago. Heading into this week, the Rams are looking to build on this recent momentum and remain in the thick of the NFC playoff picture.

The Rams are 6.5-point home favorites with the game total set at 45.5 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Let’s dive into the top player prop bets for Sunday’s clash between the Chargers and Rams.

Chargers vs. Rams NFL Player Prop Bets

Justin Herbert over 0.5 interceptions (-140)

I thought this prop would be a bit more expensive at this point in the season, but there’s still a bit of value on Justin Herbert to throw an interception for yet another week. The Oregon product is having a nightmare season, some of which is due to factors beyond his control. However, this is still the worst he’s looked in an NFL uniform by a decent margin — and that includes a turnover streak that dates back to Week 1. In his seventh year in the league, Herbert has already thrown eight interceptions through six weeks, which is already more interceptions than he threw in the 2023 and 2024 seasons respectively.

The Chargers have been a mess all season long, and the franchise quarterback has certainly tried to force the issue on more than one occasion in almost all of their contests. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Herbert has thrown an interception in each of the first six games — and that includes four interceptions against consensus below average defenses. Sunday’s matchup is another instance of the Chargers being a significant underdog against one of the premier teams in the sport. The Rams have already recorded five interceptions this season, so as long as Herbert continues to put the ball in harm’s way, this prop has value.

Blake Corum over 59.5 Rushing + Receiving Yards (-110)

Blake Corum is no stranger to life as the lead running back in an offense, and we saw him record a pretty decent workload a season ago (145 carries, 746 yards, six touchdowns) as part of the two-headed monster in the Rams backfield. This season started off a bit slow for the third year running back, but his workload has steadily increased with each passing week. Last week saw Corum rack up 17 carries for 93 yards, to go along with an eight-yard reception (101 total yards). This followed up performances against Cardinals and Bills where Corum finished with 60 and 72 combined rushing + receiving yards respectively.

This week, the Rams are in a comfortable matchup against a Chargers defense that is 18th in rush yards allowed and 27th in rushing touchdowns allowed. Given the Rams lack of reliable weapons on the outside, it’s entirely conceivable that Corum also receives a few targets out of the backfield to contribute to his rushing and receiving total. With Corum having cleared this rushing and receiving prop number in four of his last six games played, I’ll go back to the well with the Michigan product on Sunday.
