Fantasy Football TE Sleepers for Week 8: Five Tight Ends to Consider

Published:

By: Zach Thompson

Finding the right fantasy football TE sleepers can make a huge impact in Week 8, especially for managers dealing with injuries, difficult matchups or tough start-sit decisions. Beyond the obvious weekly starters, several tight end sleepers could see increased opportunities this week.

Each week, we highlight five tight ends who have a path to outperform expectations because of their role, matchup, recent usage or opportunities in their offense. These picks can help season-long fantasy football managers looking for a sleeper or FLEX option, and we include DraftKings salaries for players in good spots to provide DFS value.

Best Fantasy Football TE Sleepers for Week 8

Here are five fantasy football TE sleepers to consider for Week 8. A quick analysis for each tight end is below.

  1. Mason Taylor, New York Jets ($3,300)
  2. Eli Raridon, New England Patriots ($3,300)
  3. Greg Dulcich, Miami Dolphins ($3,200)
  4. Davis Allen, Los Angeles Rams ($2,800)
  5. Elijah Higgins, Arizona Cardinals ($2,700)

Mason Taylor, New York Jets ($3,300)

Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: Taylor was one of my top Waiver Wire Week 8 pickups after his five catches for 62 yards, two touchdowns and 25.2 FPTS against the Dolphins last week. Taylor has 12 catches on 15 targets in his three games since returning from a thumb injury. The Raiders have allowed the fourth-most FPTS to TEs this season, so he’s in a great Week 8 matchup.

Eli Raridon, New England Patriots ($3,300)

Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: Raridon will take on the Dolphins, who Taylor had success against last week. While the rookie is the Patriots’ second TE, he has at least one catch in every game that he has played this season and had three catches for 56 yards, a touchdown and 14.6 FPTS last week against the Bears. Raridon could get more work since A.J. Brown (ankle/knee) is limited or out, and the Dolphins have allowed the second-most FPTS to TEs, setting him up in a good spot.

Greg Dulcich, Miami Dolphins ($3,200)

Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: On the other side of that AFC East matchup, Dulcich has been emerging as a fantasy football sleeper at tight end. He led the team with five targets against the Jets last week and caught all five for a season-high 86 yards. The Dolphins’ passing game is hard to trust overall, but Dulcich has at least four catches in three of his last four games, giving him enough potential to be a bargain option at the position against the Patriots in Week 8.

Davis Allen, Los Angeles Rams ($2,800)

Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: Allen found the end zone twice last week and caught four passes for 20 yards on his way to 18 FPTS against the Raiders. Playing him this week isn’t just chasing touchdowns, though, since he could be in a much bigger role depending on the availability of Colby Parkinson ($3,100; ribs, questionable) who missed practice all week. With Terrance Ferguson (ankle) and Davante Adams (hamstring) out, there are opportunities available for multiple tight ends in Sean McVay’s offense.

Elijah Higgins, Arizona Cardinals ($2,700)

Why he’s a Week 8 fantasy football sleeper: Higgins continues to be a solid bargain while working as the Cardinals’ second tight end behind Trey McBride ($7,400), especially since the trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. Higgins has hauled in multiple catches in four straight games, with exactly three catches in each of his last three games. He has scored once this season and is averaging 28.2 receiving yards per game over his last five contests.
